What if everything around us--the people, the stars overhead,
the ground beneath our feet, even our bodies and minds--were an
elaborate illusion? What if our world were simply a
hyper-realistic simulation, with all of us merely characters in
some kind of sophisticated video game? Sounds crazy doesn't
it? Well, for a growing number of people it's not
crazy. For them, it's a legitimate option called
the Simulated
Universe Theory, and it continues to gain traction for
people trying to piece together humanity's origins and ultimately
who or what is in control of the universe.
Why does this matter? It matters because humans want to know
that they matter. People want to know where they came from,
why they are here, and do they have control or influence over the
universe. And, if humans have no control...then who or what
does?
If you are reading this, more then likely, you believe that God
is the creator and sustainer of the universe, and your purpose and
meaning come from Him. These are the truths the Bible reveals
to us. However, even these truths raise a number of
questions: How much has God determined my
life? Do I have free
will? How do my daily decisions impact my
eternal destiny?
Thankfully, the Bible, and more specifically, Jesus has a lot to
say on this subject. Check out part two of The Bottom Line as
we try and get to the bottom of what is God's plan.
