We've all seen a sailboat. It's such a common part of
culture that even children's books talk about sailboats.
However, there was a time when there were no sailboats.
Before the technology of sails, people were left to either ride the
currents or power their boats with oars or paddles. Talk
about exhausting work!
Then one day someone invented a way to catch the power of
wind. Using a mast, rigging and massive tarps, sailors were
able to harness a power source that was
readily available on the open seas. With this
amazing innovation, global travel became possible and the world
began to change.
Is there teaching point for the Christian to learn from? Is
there an invisible power, readily available to every follower of
Christ? Lastly, is there a way to capture this power to help
direct the lives of people?
The answer to all those questions is a resounding, "Yes!"
On Sunday we will begin a brand new sermon series specifically
targeted at learning to " raise our sails". Jesus on
multiple occasions talked about how prayer and fasting were ways in
which we can connect to God in a powerful and meaningful way.
What Jesus stressed more then anything was that our Heavenly Father
wants to provide his people with wisdom, direction and power.
However, according to Jesus, the problem is that people didn't take
the time to ask.
Do you want to "raise the sails" in your life? Make sure and
listen to this new sermon series, Less of Me ~ More of Him.
