Dec 21, 2020
One of the most difficult times for people, each and every year,
is Christmas. To make matters worse, 2020 has provided people
with a pandemic, a divisive culture, and a contentious
election! Add to this the simple fact that for most people,
Christmas will be far from normal this year. For some people,
maybe even you, your days are not going to be merry and bright,
because Christmas...even life itself...just plain hurts.
For many folks, depression, grief, sadness, brokenness, and guilt
hover in the background on even the most ordinary of days.
But there's nothing quite like the Christmas season to ratchet up
the pressure to act like everything is alright (when it's not), and
then wrap it in lights and tinsel to broadcast it in a heavily
filtered Instagram pic for all to see! You may feel more
compelled than ever to feel good, and more guilt than ever to admit
that you don't. Why is this? What is a person to
do?
The Bible actually provides us with a couple of reasons why we
struggle with hurts, depression, guilt, and even shame...and why we
all have intense pressure to hide it. However, the Bible also
provides us with a hope---a gift, that when opened, leads people on
a pathway to healing and restoration. In this teaching we
will explore the promises found in the book of Isaiah, and discover
that God has provided for each of us an amazing gift--if we are
willing to open it! Do you want to know more? Give a
listen as we continue with our sermon series, Hidden
Hope. We know you'll find it to be helpful!
