"Why pray?" Have you ever asked yourself that question? Everyone has had a moment or two where they spent weeks and weeks praying intently about something very important only to have the pray go unanswered. The typical response to an unanswered prayer usually goes something like this: "I must have sinned so God wasn't going to answered my prayer." Or, "I must be praying incorrectly, and God isn't going to answer my prayer until I figure it out." Prayer can be so confusing! So here's the struggle: We know we should pray and even pray more, but how?
Thankfully, you're not alone! In fact you are in really
good company when it comes to the struggle of praying well.
One of the most asked questions by the disciples of Jesus was
this: Please teach us to pray?
If Jesus' disciples struggled with prayer, we are going to
struggle with prayer...it's inevitable. However, Jesus
provides some very helpful and straightforward teaching on prayer
and why it is an essential for those who want to follow him.
